NC Medicaid's CAP Waiver Program Consumer Direction Training Notice

The 2024 Consumer Direction Training Schedule is listed below for individuals participating in the Community Alternatives Program for Children (CAP/C) or Disabled Adults (CAP/DA). To obtain the initial approval to self-direct care using consumer direction, the waiver participant or the primary caregiver and the designated employer of record must register and participate in one of the identified training sessions. The trainings are virtual and will be held monthly beginning January 2024.

Objectives of the training are to:

Assist families in identifying whether consumer-directed services are an option to meet their family’s needs.
Assist families and supporters in obtaining information about consumer direction to gain the knowledge, skills, and required competencies to be self-directed.
Provide participants with a training certificate of full completion of the training to facilitate enrollment in consumer direction.

If you are interested in enrolling in consumer-directed services, you must register to attend one of the virtual Consumer Direction trainings. When registering, select the time that best meets your scheduling needs to actively participate in the training session. If you have questions that you would like addressed during the session, please send those questions to michelle.codrington@dhhs.nc.gov.

How to register:

Click on the registration link below that is blue.
When the link opens, select the date and time that works best for you by clicking the box using the drop-down arrow on the far right of the bar to select your preferred date and time.
Make sure your time zone is EDT.
Type in your first name, last name, and email address.
Click register once you have typed in your name and email address.
When you click register, you will receive a notice that you are registered for the training.
A notice will also pop up to add this event to your calendar. Click on “Add to Calendar” and follow the prompts.
Your training registration is now complete.
On the day of the training, click on the join webinar link to listen in.
In your confirmed registration link, there is an option for you to join by telephone if you prefer that over listening on your computer.
