2025 Community Alternatives Program Consumer Direction Initial Training Schedule

Consumer direction is a way for Community Alternatives Program for Children (CAP/C) or Disabled Adults (CAP/DA) participants to take control of their health care and hire the workers they trust to care for them in their homes. To use consumer direction, CAP/C and CAP/DA participants or their legally responsible party must complete the required training. After completing the training , attendees will receive a certificate. The certificate will help the CAP/C or CAP/DA participant start the paperwork to use consumer direction services.

The training will:

1. Teach families about consumer direction.
2. Help families decide if consumer direction is right for them.
3. Explain key roles and tasks in consumer direction.
4. Help families understand how to manage budgets.

The 2025 training dates and registration instructions are listed below. Instructions are listed on how to register. Choose the training session that best meets your schedule. You must complete the training before using consumer direction services

How to Register:

1. Select the date and time that works best for you and click on the Registration here.
2. When the link opens in a separate Zoom window, verify your preferred date and time.
3. Make sure your time zone is EST.
4. Type in your first name, last name, and email address.
5. Click register once you have typed in your name and email address.
6. When you click register, you will receive a notice that you are registered for the training.
7. A notice will also pop up to add this event to your calendar. Click on “Add to Calendar” and follow the prompts.
8. Your training registration is now complete.
9. On the day of the training, click on the join webinar link to listen in.
10. In your confirmed registration link, there is an option for you to join by telephone if you prefer that over listening on your computer.
